The roof of the Georgia Dome is made of 130 Teflon-coated fiberglass panels. It is as tall as a 27-story building. Part of the roof was damaged by a tornado that struck downtown Atlanta on the evening of March 14, 2008. The facility was hosting a Southeastern Conference Championship basketball game between Mississippi State and Alabama at the time the storm hit. The tornado caused over $75 million in damages to the Georgia Dome and the Georgia World Congress Center. There is permanent seating in the Georgia Dome for more than 71,000 fans. The stadium has 164 Executive Suites, 8 Super Suites, and 1 Penthouse Suite. A large variety of food and beverage concessions are located on all levels of the facility. Fans can enjoy gourmet meals and a full service bar at the 2View Restaurant, which overlooks the east end zone. The Georgia Dome is the home of the Atlanta Falcons football team and the Georgia State University Panthers football team. Upcoming Falcons games in the Georgia Dome are 2012 preseason games against the Baltimore Ravens on August 9 and the Cincinnati Bengals on August 16. The first 2012 regular season home game is scheduled against the Denver Broncos on September 17. The Georgia Dome has hosted two Super Bowls, Mens and Womens NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments, the Chick-fil-A Bowl, and SEC football championship games. It has also been the venue for concerts, major trade shows, conferences, graduations, and other large non-sporting events. The club lounges and suites are ideal for VIP receptions, networking events, and preview parties. Visitors may take a behind the scenes tour of the facility. Individual tours are available most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am-2pm. The tour price is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Group tours are available for parties of 10 or more. No tours are given on game days or during large events. Highlights of the tour include visits to the Observatory Deck, Press Box, suites, club lounges, lower level, locker rooms, and the field. The Georgia Dome is located just west of downtown at the corner of Northside Drive and Georgia Dome Drive. There is parking for more than 5,000 vehicles in 8 surrounding lots. Taking MARTA transportation is recommended on game days to avoid heavy traffic delays. MARTA rail has a Georgia Dome station.
